Jonthan Ive in conversation with Christopher Frayling at the Innovation Night lecture

Jonathan Ive at Innovation Night 2009
Innovation Night is the Royal College of Art's annual landmark event for senior partners and friends from business, industry, government, research and education.

It is set against the backdrop of the RCA's Degree Show exhibition of postgraduate student work from the Schools of Architecture & Design, Communications, Design for Production, Fashion & Textiles, Humanities, and features the prestigious Helen Hamlyn Design Awards presentation.

A traditional highlight of Innovation Night is the annual 'innovation talk' by a world-class practitioner or opinion-former. Previous speakers have included Sir James Dyson, Sir George Cox, Business Week's Bruce Nussbaum and Olympic Delivery Authority CEO David Higgins.

This year was no exception, and on 30 June 2009, some 700 guests gathered to hear Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple Computer, in conversation with the RCA's Rector, Sir Christopher Frayling. Later in the week, Jonathan Ive was granted an Honorary Doctorate at the College's Convocation Ceremony.
