Rama Gheerawo is a Research Fellow in the Helen Hamlyn Centre at the RCA from where he leads the Research Associates Programme. He has a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, an MA in Industrial Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art and has completed courses in management from Imperial College's business school.

Rama has experience in the automotive, product design, multimedia design and civil engineering sectors, having been employed at companies ranging from small start-ups to multinational organisations.

Rama worked on the BMW Mini project as a concept design engineer when at the Rover Group. He looked at using new materials in the design of transport infrastructure for emerging economies when at Robert Benaim and Associates. He worked with design consultancy Atlantic Design on a range of domestic, industrial and telecommunication products and, more recently, was design manager of a start-up web and multimedia company based in London and Bombay.

Rama writes and lectures on innovation through socially inclusive design for many audiences including students, academics, designers and business.
