Magic Light
Magic Light lets you move beams of light and control them with your bare hands. You can move a light beam around a space and direct it to wherever you want by simply nudging it with your hands.
The light was developed by Adrian Westaway, an Electrical and Electronic Engineer and MA graduate of the Royal College of Art's Industrial Design Engineering programme.
The light requires no special tracking equipment to control the beam. It has been designed to be completely self contained, without the need for remote controls or wiring systems. It allows the easy adjustment of task lighting. In retail, orrice and exhibitions without the need for step ladders. This magical design is intended to be simple enough for a child to use.
The light provides an efficient lighting control system for people who don't have the full use of their hands - for example surgeons or production workers with contaminated or wet hands. It's magical properties also make it an ideal lighting system that can be used in a more playful manner by anyone.
In recognition of Adrian's design he has been awarded the first ever James Dyson Innovation Fellowship at the Royal College of Art and will continue to develop the light in the coming months. Magic Light is a Royal College of Art Selected Work and patent protection has been applied for. We are currently seeking potential licensees.
